G. Add missing relationships

sometimes camera trap sessions are set up in a way that depending on the downstream analysis, they should be considered as one session. This is for example the case when two camera traps are set up as a pair. Therefore, this relationship must be documented.

Detailed documentation on what relationships sessions can have are documented here with explanation of what the effect for downstream analysis will be. Use this to determine what relationship two sessions have.

How it works

There are two parts to the script:

  1. The first part checks for missing relationships in the database and creates a file with all missing relationships. The file is named todaysDate_missingRelationships.csv and is saved in the output folder. The file can then be filled out manually. Each row defines the relationship between two sessions. The session names are filled in and only the relationship type needs to be filled in.
  2. The second part of the script adds the relationships from the file to the database.
  3. extract the updated database to the organized data folder.

Input

  • out: path where the missing relationships file will be saved.
  • relationshipFile: relationship file that was filled out manually that you wish to read into the database.
